Unprecedented numbers of visitors from China choose Alberta as a hot-spot to retire for a while. Until recently, it was noticed that few people from China wanted to spent their vacation in this destination. Changes came in on December 2009 with the Chinese government granting the ''Approved Destination Status'' to Canada.
Reports are that after the approval, there is a huge trickle of visitors from China playing a growing role in the tourism revenues in Alberta. Much of the Canadian tourism industry's future likely source is identified as China that has got 1.3 billion population. No wonder, a twitter post from an employee in Karmakerala who visited China recently jotted down "My friends are planning to visit Canada and they have asked me to go with them. So here i come Canada, waiting...''
With the language barrier for Chinese visitors on the rise, many hotels and attractions are trying their best to find staff with Chinese language skills. Even the cultural differences of preferring hot water to cold is a question, but time will tell if Alberta can keep Chinese visitors happy and satisfied.
After holidays in Alberta Ski Resorts this summer, do you now look for luxury ski holidays in Chamonix valley, Verbier or Morzine ski regions…?
Last day I had a debate with one of my colleague he was advocating "Tourism is on its brink in India" the reason he gave was strict Visa policy. He might be correct to some extent, but I disagreed, well my counter statement was "Tourism in India is the largest service industry, with a contribution of 6.23% to the national GDP and 8.78% of the total employment in India". Further I added, in 2010, total Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTA) in India were 5.78 million, and India generated about 200 billion US dollars in 2008 and that is expected to increase to US$375.5 billion by 2018 at a 9.4% annual growth rate. Majority of foreign tourist comes from USA and UK every year.
With so many places to visit and explore, India happens to be a destination to be visited the most. The top among the list of destinations remains; Delhi, Agra, Goa, Kerala, Kashmir, and Rajashthan. With, more foreign investment and international travel company coming down to India give a hint how rich, the prospect of our Indian tourism is in coming years. Recently the International online travel company, Expedia Group announced to set up a global technology centre in India by the end of 2012.
One of my friend works for such a travel company Karma Kerala, who told me the that Indian Tourism is ranked in sixth place in the world in terms of price competitiveness and 39th in terms of safety and security. India's cultural rich history and geographical diversity make it a prominent tourist spot globally. Apart from India's heritage and cultural tourism, in recent years medical, business and sports tourism has even been at its peak making India one of the largest and fastest growing tourist destination.
