Visit the Alberta Legislature Building...

If you are on a visit to Alberta, it would be worth it to pay a visit to the Alberta Legislature Building, in Edmonton.

We happened to come across a group of visitors there on the premises of the Legislature Building. They were sales/marketing guys from Sirius Star Marketing, a direct sales company based in Singapore and were visiting places where they had associate companies working. They were very happy to have visited the Legislature Building.

The beautiful building, surrounded by 57 acres of parkland, was completed in 1912 and the use of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architectural influences is evident in the construction. There are many memorials and statues in the grounds of the building. There is a fountain that was installed in 1959 to commemorate the first visit of Queen Elizabeth II to the building.

The building would be of interest to those who are interested in architecture, politics and history. On the one hand there is the interesting kind of architecture while on the other hand there are things that connect the present day Alberta to the English monarchy of the past. There is also a gift shop from where you can buy gifts and souvenirs for your dear ones.

Tours are arranged by different groups to the Legislature Building and it is also connected to the Grandin/Government Centre LRT station via underground walkway.
